In 1954, the Blood Bank of Delmarva was established in the Delmarva region as a private, not-for-profit agency to collect, test, and distribute blood products. Today, it is a division of the New York Blood Center, one of the nation's leading providers of blood products and services, vital to the community’s healthcare system. As of October 2019, it employs approximately 175 staff members. Our team is committed to providing safe and sufficient blood supplies for our community.

Responsibilities

The Blood Bank of Delmarva in Newark, DE, offers training for both experienced phlebotomists and newcomers interested in healthcare, to join our Mobile Blood Drive Team.

Technicians work varied schedules at different mobile blood drives, scheduled 2 weeks in advance. We seek welcoming individuals committed to excellent donor service. We promote work-life balance and are excited to add team members interested in healthcare roles.

***Shift Schedule: Morning, Evening, and Weekend shifts required, schedule released 2 weeks in advance***

• This role offers a 3-step career ladder for new employees to develop skills in blood collection procedures.
• This position is 'essential' during severe weather or emergency events.
• Conduct donor interviews confidentially to assess eligibility according to BBD standards.
• Perform blood collection and monitor donor progress per guidelines.
• Prepare interview materials and equipment, ensuring quality standards.
