What You Need to Know (Job Overview):

Utilize your CDL and customer service skills to assist with blood collection. This includes transporting and setting up equipment at community sites, creating a welcoming environment for donors, and following safety procedures to collect lifesaving blood donations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Transport blood collection equipment safely and set up/take down sites with team members.
  • Connect with donors, listen to their stories, and help them understand their donation's impact.
  • Create a welcoming environment to encourage repeat donations.
  • Maintain attention to detail to ensure safety and regulatory compliance of collected blood.
Standard Schedule (Wilmington, North Carolina):
  • You will be scheduled for variable shifts Monday-Friday.
  • Work may include early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays. Overnight travel may be required.
  • Schedules are provided 2-3 weeks in advance.
Pay Information:
  • Starting rate: $24.48/hr.
  • This position is covered by a union contract.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Customer service experience and effective communication skills.
  • Valid Class A or B CDL and a good driving record; experience driving large vehicles is preferred.
  • DOT certification, including passing physical and obtaining medical certification.
  • Physical ability to lift, push/pull heavy weights, and adapt to long or irregular hours; minimum height of 60 inches may be required for vehicle operation.
  • Teamwork in mobile blood drive setups and takedowns.
  • Proficiency in basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Healthcare or phlebotomy experience (CNA, MA, EMT, etc.).
  • Leadership experience.
