Job summary

UP Health System Marquette, part of Lifepoint Health, seeks a Donor Technician- Blood Bank to perform phlebotomy, blood draws, and donor data entry in a full-time role at the Escanaba, MI location. The role supports a safe, organized donor area and collaborative hospital operations.

Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma or equivalent, a valid driver license, and BLS-HCP certification; 6 months of phlebotomy experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent (or related experience).
• Licenses: Valid driver license.
• Certifications: Basic Life Support - Health Care Provider (BLS-HCP). Minimum 6 months phlebotomy experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs phlebotomy on- and offsite.

How You'll Contribute A Donor Technician who excels in this role:

• Performs phlebotomy both on and offsite.
• Performs blood draws to maintain an adequate blood supply for the hospital.
• Maintains work area in a safe, aseptic and organized manner.
• Performs clerical duties including answering phones, data entry, and filing related to donors.
• Performs quality control and corrective preventative maintenance on equipment, instruments, and products.
• Maintains supply inventory.
• Tele-recruits donors as needed to maintain adequate blood supplies for daily activities at the hospital.

What We're Looking For

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent. *Years of relevant experience may be substituted for required education.
• Licenses: Valid driver license
• Certifications: Basic Life Support- Health Care Provider (BLS-HCP) Minimum Work Experience-6 months of phlebotomy experience (Preferred)
• Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
