Job Title: Medical Lab Scientist – Blood Bank
Location: Akron, OH

Job Type: Full-Time | Onsite
Shift:3rd Shift - 9:30pm-6:30am
Pay: $42-$45/hr based on years of experience and education

Position Overview:

A-Line Staffing is actively seeking a Medical Lab Scientist to join our Blood Bank department. This role is exclusively focused on blood banking and involves performing routine and specialized laboratory testing on biological specimens to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. Ideal candidates are detail-oriented, collaborative, and passionate about high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine and specialized blood bank testing in accordance with laboratory protocols.

  • Calibrate, operate, and maintain laboratory instrumentation and equipment.

  • Follow detailed procedures as outlined in laboratory manuals and ensure quality control measures are met.

  • Accurately report and document test results using laboratory information systems.

  • Communicate findings clearly with physicians, nurses, and other authorized personnel.

  • Maintain continuing education and competency standards as required.

  • Ability to comprehend and follow standard laboratory instructions and procedures.

  • Basic to intermediate computer skills to operate lab information systems and equipment.

Required Education/Experience:

  • Associate Degree in Laboratory Science from an accredited college with completion of an approved MLT program, or

  • Undergraduate degree in Science (Biology, Chemistry, Nursing) with successful completion of a Medical Lab Technician trainee program.

Experience:

  • : Certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) through ASCP, AMT, or other recognized agency.

  • Certification-eligible candidates will be considered.

  • Strong manual dexterity for lab equipment use.

  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

  • Commitment to exceptional patient care and customer service.

  • Ability to interact effectively with diverse patient populations with empathy and professionalism.

Physical Demands:

  • Medium Work: Must be able to exert 20–50 lbs. occasionally, 10–25 lbs. frequently, and/or negligible force continuously to move objects.
