Job summary

Manna Beverages in Indianapolis is seeking a Blending Supervisor to lead the Blend Room team and optimize the blending of beverage ingredients. You will develop methods to utilize personnel and resources efficiently and determine overtime needs on certain projects.

You will drive cost reductions, maintain safety and quality standards, and collaborate across departments to meet customer deadlines while coaching and developing staff for continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Follow all safety procedures and work as safe as possible at all times.
  • Supervise all day-to-day activities of the Blend Room and personnel.
  • Provide Blend Room operators with proper tools and training to ensure products are blended safely, consistently, and per instructions.
  • Monitor production flow to minimize downtime and product loss while meeting deadlines.
  • Organize and schedule staffing to complete Blend Room activities as required.
  • Set and maintain high standards for quality and safety through teamwork.
  • Interpret specifications and assign duties to workers; monitor results and provide coaching as needed.
  • Maintain workflow by monitoring process steps, control points and equipment.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places. The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud.

Summary

The Blending Supervisor is responsible for supervising and coordinating activities of workers engaged in blending ingredients to manufacture beverages. The Blending Supervisor develops methods to utilize personnel and resources in the best possible ways and determine whether overtime is needed for certain projects. The Blending Supervisor assists in developing more cost-effective processes and reducing waste while also increasing productivity and employee satisfaction.

  • Follow all safety procedures and work as safe as possible at all times.
  • Supervise all day-to-day activities of the Blend Room and personnel.
  • Provide Blend Room operators with proper tools and training to insure all products are blended in a safe, consistent manner and in accordance with specific blending instructions.
  • Monitor production flow to insure products are made in a timely fashion so as to minimize downtime and product loss.
  • Organize and schedule staffing to insure all ancillary Blend Room activities are completed as required.
  • Set and maintain a very high standard for quality and safety by creating a culture of trust and team work.
  • Interprets specifications and job orders to workers, and assigns duties.
  • Accomplishes results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.
  • Maintains work flow by monitoring steps of the process; setting processing variables; observing control points and equipment; monitoring personnel and resources; studying methods; implementing cost reductions; developing reporting procedures and systems; facilitating corrections to malfunctions within process control points; initiating and fostering a spirit of cooperation within and between departments.
  • Maintains working relationship with the union by following the terms of the collective bargaining agreement.
  • Plans flow of materials through department.
  • Interfaces with others in the organization to ensure customer deadlines are met.
  • Inspects and measures parts and products to verify conformance to specifications.
  • Develops, recommends, and implements measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
  • Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of department, or work crew.
  • Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems.
  • Maintains time and production records.
  • Assists employees in completion of job duties when needed.
  • Provides Safety training and guidance to department employees.
  • Maintain a positive work atmosphere and interaction with customers, co-workers, and management.

Education
  • High School Degree or Equivalent required.
  • 3 years relevant experience in Food Processing or Bottling Company.
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience.
