Job summary

The Spice & Tea Exchange in Annapolis is seeking a Blending & Production Specialist for the holiday season. You will blend, package, label, stock, and prepare products so the store is guest-ready during our busiest time.

This role suits someone who enjoys recipes, checklists, clean workspaces, repetition, accuracy, and following procedures. Some experience in food prep, production, or inventory is helpful but not required. There is room to grow toward senior production responsibilities.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Blend spices, teas, sugars, salts, and other products according to recipes and procedures.
• Weigh, scoop, fill, seal, label, and organize products accurately.
• Restock shelves, jars, bins, and displays so the store stays full and guest-ready.
• Help prepare seasonal and holiday products, gifts, and high-demand items.
• Follow production checklists, batch instructions, cleanliness standards, and store procedures.
• Keep production areas and backstock clean, orderly, food-safe, and efficient.
• Check labels, weights, ingredients, packaging, quantities, and product presentation for accuracy.
• Communicate clearly when supplies or instructions are missing or unclear.
• Support the behind-the-scenes quality that makes the store feel abundant, beautiful, and trustworthy.

The Spice & Tea Exchange is a sensory specialty retail shop filled with spices, teas, sugars, salts, blends, gifts, recipes, and discovery. Guests see the beautiful shelves, smell the spices, taste the teas, and find products they love — but a lot of that magic starts behind the scenes. We are looking for careful, reliable, detail-oriented support for our Annapolis holiday season. This role helps us blend, package, label, stock, organize, and prepare products so the store is accurate, full, beautiful, and guest‑ready during our busiest time of year. This is not a “stand behind the register and wait” kind of retail job. It is also not a “make it up as you go” production job. This role is best for someone who likes recipes, checklists, clean workspaces, repetition, accuracy, and the satisfaction of finishing work the right way. Some candidates may be newer and ready to learn step by step. Others may bring experience in food prep, production, inventory, stocking, labeling, quality control, receiving, counting, or team training. Both types may fit here. What matters most is care, reliability, accuracy, coachability, and follow‑through.

This role starts with hands‑on blending, production, stocking, labeling, and holiday preparation.

For the right person, it may grow toward senior production responsibility, inventory support, receiving support, backstock organization, cycle counts, product availability tracking, operations support, keyholder responsibility, or broader store leadership over time. We are especially interested in candidates who enjoy both doing the work carefully and helping the store stay organized and accurate.

Requirements

• Reliable attendance and punctuality, especially during holiday preparation and peak selling periods.
• Comfort standing, moving, reaching, scooping, weighing, filling, labeling, stocking, organizing, and cleaning during shifts.
• Ability to assist with unpacking, stocking, and moving items, generally up to 15–25 lbs.
• Willingness to follow recipes, checklists, production standards, inventory procedures, and cleanliness expectations.
• Strong attention to detail and respect for accuracy.
• Comfort with repetitive hands‑on work.
• Ability to receive feedback and adjust quickly.
• Ability to ask questions when something is unclear rather than guessing.
• Weekend, holiday, seasonal, or peak‑period availability may be required based on business needs.
• Prior experience in food prep, baking, production, packing, labeling, stocking, receiving, inventory, merchandising, retail operations, or quality‑control work is helpful but not required.
• Age 18+ preferred for broader responsibility, equipment use, closing support, and growth opportunities.

Compensation & growth

Compensation varies by experience, availability, and role fit. Candidates may be considered for junior or senior production responsibility based on demonstrated accuracy, reliability, independence, prior experience, and ability to support quality standards. Strong performers may be considered for additional responsibility or future growth opportunities in production, inventory support, operations, keyholding, or store leadership based on performance, availability, and business needs.
