Job summary

OWS Foods in Concordia, Missouri, seeks a Blending Lead on 2nd shift to support production and ensure alignment with GMPs and safety standards.

You will supervise start-up activities, train contract workers, monitor blending processes, operate forklifts, and maintain clean, safe work areas.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Must be able to lift and maneuver up to 50 lbs.
  • Experience working on a team.
  • Familiar with computers; at least 1 year experience.
  • Mathematical Skills: ability to perform basic arithmetic.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Production Supervisor with shift start-up activities, including distribution of paperwork for each system, job assignment, and coordination of needed blending schedule adjustments.
  • Instruct contract employees in work rules, methods, and procedures for assignment.
  • Re-assign or perform blending tasks in any position to insure proper coverage during absences or breaks for regularly assigned employee.
  • Monitor work activity in all blending areas to address problems, ensure processing procedures, safety rules, and sanitation standards are followed.
  • In absence of supervisor, act as liaison with HR and/or department head for all personnel-related concerns. Document any work injury or rule violation for Production Supervisor review and action.
  • Assist Production Supervisor with cross-training of employees in job functions as needed.
  • Assist with basic maintenance and adjustment of equipment in blending areas as needed.
  • Follow all safety procedures and participate in safety training. Maintain safe and efficient use of equipment, tools, and person. Report any injury or accident immediately to supervisory and/or any unsafe condition.
  • Mixes or blends raw materials in accordance with specified formulas.
  • Examine work orders for special instructions, proper packaging components, and blending recipe.
  • Verify process order to actual formula for accuracy.
  • Sets up and runs blenders efficiently and safely.
  • Measure, weigh and document ingredients in Plex.
  • Assist other blending operators with product changeovers and loading of blender.
  • Mokes adjustments and performs minor machine maintenance as necessary.
  • Responsible for product quality while maintaining company standards and processes.
  • Perform boxes and bags palletizing, assemble boxes.
  • Use forklift to move product in and out of blending room.
  • Keep work area sanitary and orderly.
  • Keep Blending Team Leader informed of problems, potential issues and status of work in progress.
  • Follow appropriate safety procedures and rules at all times.
  • Sanitation of blending area and equipment.
  • Follow all GMP’s, Safety and Environmental regulations as well as company policies.
  • Performs other related tasks as assigned

Description

The Blending Lead is an hourly front-line leadership position. This position is responsible to support the Production Supervisor in directing work activities to start up shift operations, monitoring blending processing procedures and work methods, and assigning work tasks to ensure all blending areas meet process, quality and safety standards within the production schedules assigned.

The Blending Lead upholds GMPs and mixes and blends products in a timely and efficient manner. The Blending Lead works with team members to complete jobs.

2nd shift Mon-Thur 3:00pm-1:30am with occasional overtime on Fridays.

Requirements

Minimum:

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent
  • Must be able to lift and maneuver up to 50lbs
  • Experience working on a team to complete a job
  • Must be familiar with computers and have at least 1 year experience
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.

Preferred:

  • 1+ year manufacturing experience, preferably in a batch maker, mixer, or blender role
  • Experience working in a dry food manufacturing environment
  • 2+ years working on a computer (Microsoft Suite, Google)
