Saint-Gobain Abrasives in Carol Stream, IL seeks a detail‑oriented operator on 1st shift to weigh, blend and press vitrified materials. The role requires following precise instructions, using scales and hand tools, with a focus on accuracy and safety.

You will support production through accurate record‑keeping and material handling. Applicants should have a high school diploma or equivalent and be comfortable with shop math, blueprints, and measuring devices.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Blend vitrified materials by following job instructions with scales and mixing tools.
• Weigh powders, load into molds, and cold press segments.
• Inspect measurements with precision instruments against blueprints.
• Maintain logs using Ignition and track processes/materials/time.
• Review work orders and blueprints and obtain needed materials.
• Keep the work area clean and orderly per 5S.
• Follow safety procedures and wear required PPE.
• Adhere to Quality Policy and SOPs.

Job description

We’re seeking a motivated individual to join our team. This 1st shift position in our Carol Stream, IL manufacturing facility is responsible for weighing, blending and pressing small amounts of vitrified materials by following specific job instruction. We offer a climate controlled work space, competitive pay, great benefits, and opportunities for growth! Hours are 6:00am - 2:30pm.

Job Responsibility

The following duties will be performed by the successful candidate:

• Blend vitrified materials by following specific job instruction. This involves using small scales and manual mixing tools.
• Weigh blended vitrified powders for pressing. Load the powder into mold. Cold press the powder into a segment. Remove segment from mold.
• Measurement inspection of the segment using precision measuring instruments, verifying production measurements against customer blueprint measurements.
• Maintain accurate records and logs of processes, materials, production time, inventory and results utilizing computerized system - Ignition.
• Read, review and discuss work orders, instructions or blueprints.
• Obtain material necessary to complete order
• Maintain clean and orderly work area according to 5S program.
• Follow all safety procedures, including the wearing of required protective equipment.
• Adhere to the Quality Policy and Standard Operating Procedures.

We believe in the importance of pay transparency in what we offer potential candidates. Provided is the local pay range for this position which is $18.00 to $ 19.00per hour. In addition to the hourly base pay rate, this position is eligible for periodic bonus payments. The targeted bonus amount can be up to $3,200 per year based on company and individual performance measures. Bonus payments are part of variable compensation and by nature can vary based on company and individual performance and is not a guarantee.
