Job description

The blaster reports directly to the shift Foreman or Leadsman with the primary responsibilities of sand or shot blasting heads per job card; preparing heads for the next sequence. Follows company policy and procedures.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Comply with all Uni-Form Components Health, Safety, and Environmental policies and procedures.
  • Comply with Uni-Form Components policies and procedures.
  • Operates sandblast, rotary and pass through shot blasts, for cleaning and preparing parts.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and understand job cards.
  • Ability to maintain and inspect equipment, specifically for hydraulic oil.
  • Comply with company Housekeeping policies and standards to maintain a clean and orderly work station.
  • Ability to meet all company quality standards.
  • Ability to perform other duties assigned.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements

  • Ability to perform tasks in a competent manner.
  • Sets controls and regulates the amount of abrasive material repairs to blast equipment.
  • Is certified and demonstrates the ability to safely operate a lift truck.
  • Is certified and demonstrates the ability to safely operate an Overhead Crane.
  • The ability to know and understand surface designations for surface finishes.
  • Ability to safely operate hand tools such as: grinder, hammer, wrench and pry bar.
  • Ability to read prints and drawings.
  • Ability to work well with others including all levels of management.
  • Understands metric measurements and standard measurements.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English both orally and written.
  • Minimum 1 year experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent is preferred.

Working Conditions

  • Tolerate working outside in severe conditions as well as exposure to high temperatures, noise, and dust.
  • Able to walk, stand, stoop, kneel, bend at the waist, and reach for extended periods of time on a daily basis.
  • Frequent lifting and/ or carrying of objects weighing up to 50 lbs. Lifting devices are available and recommended.
