Job summary

Spuncast, Inc. in Watertown, WI is hiring a blast operator for 2nd shift (1 pm to 9:30 pm, Monday–Friday) with a $2.00 shift differential. You will read instructions, load abrasive, operate blast equipment, inspect parts, and document process results.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or equivalent, basic mechanical aptitude, and the ability to obtain forklift certification. Factory experience is a plus, and there are training and benefits available.

• Solid math, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Read and comprehend work instructions.
• Shovel or pour abrasive of specified grade into machine hopper.
• Load/stage parts for blast operations.
• Turn valves on equipment to regulate pressure and composition of abrasive mixture.
• Start/monitor equipment that directs blast or flow of abrasive-laden compressed air over surface of parts.
• Manually direct nozzle over surface of parts if necessary.
• May examine finished parts to ensure conformance to specifications.
• Move, store and inspect castings from foundry to blast area.
• Perform heat numbers verification on rough castings before blasting and inspect casting visually before and after blasting.
• Ensure proper documentation of castings and delivery paperwork to proper department (includes heat treat and job numbers, alloy type, etc.)
• Perform light maintenance of sandblast equipment, dust collection system and housekeeping.
• Monitor blast media to ensure it is performing at acceptable levels.
• Conduct pressure test as prescribed by job card and customer specifications.

Spuncast, Inc. is a contract manufacturing company specializing in cylindrical castings. Since 1976, our campus in Watertown, WI, has grown to two foundries and two machine shops. We focus on centrifugal castings for a diverse number of industries.

We are currently looking for a blast operator for:

2nd shift: Schedule: 1 pm to 9:30 am Monday-Friday
