Role at a glance

  • Command-center oversight of blast furnace hoisting/charging and stove operations via remote systems.
  • Partner with field teams to troubleshoot PLC ladder logic, implement code changes, and mark updates on blueprints.
  • Maintain robust communications across multiple computer platforms; ensure continuous network connectivity.
  • Diagnose issues down to processor and board component level; perform soldering work.
  • Terminate fiber optic communications cabling.
  • Service and calibrate scales and scale displays.
  • Maintain sonar instrumentation, including radar level detectors.
  • Apply combustion fundamentals (e.g., oxygen/fuel mix) to optimize operations.
  • Work with AC/DC drives and motor starters; Allen‑Bradley and GE Fanuc PLCs; Bristol; Emerson Ovation; and Avton drive platforms.

Minimum qualifications

  • Associate (2‑year) degree in electronics, electrical engineering, or computers.
  • MUST PASS WRITTEN COMMAND CENTER TEST.
  • 1–3 years of experience in a manufacturing plant role closely related to this position.
  • Skilled with voltmeters, oscilloscopes, and common hand tools, including a soldering gun.
