BakerEngineering and Risk Consultants, Inc. (BakerRisk) invites mechanical engineering students to join a co-op in blast effects. The role is based in San Antonio, with work at Box Canyon Test Facility in Bracketville, TX, mainly Monday-Thursday.

You'll support field and lab testing projects related to explosions, assist engineers, perform calculations, and prepare presentations and reports. The program prioritizes hands-on learning, safety, and professional mentorship throughout an 8-month

Qualifications

Pursuing a bachelor’s degree with a minimum 3.0 GPA in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
Rising Junior or Senior level student.
Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
Ability to learn engineering software as needed.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Previous hands-on experience with field or lab-scale testing preferred.

Responsibilities

Support field and lab testing projects focused on explosions and related phenomena.
Assist engineers by applying standard methods to evaluate explosion related phenomena and predict blast and fragment loads.
Perform routine engineering calculations, conduct research, and prepare presentations and reports.
Expected to be able to solve problems using procedures and criteria assigned by technical staff and establish priorities for completion of assigned workload.
