Job summary

State of Washington through the Office of Public Defense seeks contract attorneys to provide legal services for Blake vacate matters in municipal courts across Western Washington. Qualifications

• Licensed member in good standing with the Washington State Bar
• Malpractice insurance carried
• Knowledge of Washington criminal law incl. vacates and LFOs
• Ability to travel to municipal courts around Western Washington
• Experience with clients in carceral settings and marginalized communities

Responsibilities

• Provide legal services to individuals eligible for Blake vacate of simple drug possession convictions in municipal courts along the I-5 corridor in Western Washington
• Assist with obtaining Blake refunds and third-party costs reimbursements
• Litigate motions to vacate under State v. Blake and related CrR standards
• Coordinate with DOC and other state resources as needed
