Job Title: Capital Formation, Associate

Blackstone Credit & Insurance (BXCI) is seeking to add an Associate to its Capital Formation team within the Office of the Chief Investment Officer (OCIO). The Capital Formation team is primarily responsible for (i) structuring financing solutions on behalf of BXCI’s funds (ii) conducting and executing debt and equity capital market transactions (iii) working closely with portfolio managers for ongoing review and monitoring of financings and managing fund capital structures (iv) liaising with key external stakeholders, such as banks, insurance companies, and other large institutional investors on debt opportunities and strategic initiatives (v) collaborating closely across other functions within OCIO and the broader BXCI platform and (vi) preparing models, analysis, updates and presentations regarding the aforementioned topics. The associate will work closely with all OCIO functions, investment teams as well as across the broader platform and senior management to execute on these responsibilities. The associate can expect to work on numerous initiatives at a time given the breadth of responsibilities of the team.

Job Description:

Provide support to the Capital Formation team with respect to capital markets and financing activities. Responsibilities will include the following:

  • Work closely with the portfolio management teams and structuring / banking teams to build efficient financing structures and portfolios
  • Interface with capital raising and distribution partners, investors, portfolio managers, external and in-house counsel, risk, middle office / operations, custodians
  • Prepare financing proposals for prospective investors and presentations and / or responses to questions from existing investors
  • Ongoing risk management and analysis of financing and capital structures for BXCI’s funds
  • Manage data analysis and rating agency interactions to manage asset ratings for the benefit of financing vehicles
  • Preparation of materials and market updates for debt investors, banks, fund boards and asset liability committee

Qualifications:

Blackstone seeks to hire individuals who are highly motivated, have sound judgement, are intelligent and have demonstrated excellence in prior endeavors. In addition to strong analytical skills, the successful candidate should meet the following qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree
  • 2+ years of experience, ideally within management / strategy consulting, capital markets, or advisory related services. Experience and familiarity with structuring and credit investing / leveraged finance markets is a plus
  • Strong financial analysis, data management and presentation skills
  • A high degree of proficiency in PowerPoint and Excel
  • Detail-oriented, focused, keen attention to detail
  • Critical thinking skills, including identifying trends and insights from raw data sets
  • High degree of motivation and works well independently
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, deadlines and responsibilities
  • Strong interpersonal skills to work cross-functionally and manage both internal and external business relationships

Expected annual base salary range: $140,000 - $150,000

Actual base salary within that range will be determined by several components including but not limited to the individual's experience, skills, qualifications and job location. For roles located outside of the US, please disregard the posted salary bands as these roles will follow a separate compensation process based on local market comparables.
