Job summary

City of New York seeks a Blacksmith's Helper to assist in general blacksmith work at the Brooklyn forge. The role requires lifting and maintaining heavy equipment and assisting in forging, shaping, and repairing iron parts for various vehicles and equipment.

Direct supervision is provided; three years of experience or equivalent is needed, and the job imposes extraordinary physical effort. Location is in Brooklyn, NY as part of Building Operations & Maintenance.

Qualifications

• Three (3) years of satisfactory, recent, full time paid experience as a Blacksmith's Helper; or
• A satisfactory equivalent.
• This position requires extraordinary physical effort.

• Assist in the repair of iron parts of trucks, automobiles, carts, sweepers, enclosures and other equipment.
