Job summary

Stellantis Financial Services is seeking a Tolerance Analysis Engineer in Auburn Hills, MI to lead cross-functional teams ensuring Body/Exterior, Interior, and Chassis build objectives are met. You will collaborate with PDO, Advanced Program and Engineering teams early in programs and use 3D Tolerance Analysis to develop product and process specifications that achieve dimensional and functional goals.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Minimum 7 years automotive experience.
  • Strong GD&T experience.
  • Excellent organizational, written and verbal communication skills.
  • High level of analytical skills for problem solving.
  • Proficient in Teamcenter Visualization, PowerPoint, Word and Excel.
  • Strong understanding of statistical tolerances.
  • Understanding of tolerance paths and running basic tolerance stacks.
  • Experience with 3-Dimensional Tolerance Analysis, especially 3-DCS.
  • Ability to work with cross functional teams to ensure the assembly plant will be capable to achieve build objectives with the plan of record part design, part tolerances and assembly process.
  • Experience evaluating product, process and tolerance alternatives to optimize a design with dimensional performance.

Responsibilities

  • Lead cross-functional teams to meet Body/Exterior, Interior, and Chassis build objectives.
  • Develop and implement product and process countermeasures based on tolerance analysis.
  • Use 3D tolerance analysis to develop BIW and subassembly tolerances and load/clearance studies.
  • Re-run tolerance analyses to ensure no degradation of objectives based on supplier feedback.

Job description

The Tolerance Analysis Engineer will Lead the cross functional teams to ensure, the Body and Exterior Build Objectives, Interior Build Objectives, and the Chassis Build/functional Objectives are met. Will work with PDO, Advanced Program and Engineering teams early on in the Program timeline and use 3–D Tolerance Analysis to develop Product and Process Specifications that will achieve finished vehicle Dimensional and Functional Objectives. The Tolerance Analysis Engineer will work with the cross functional teams to develop and implement product and process countermeasures based on tolerance analysis. Use 3D Tolerance Analysis to develop BIW and Subassemblies tolerances, Load and clearance studies for interior and tolerance analysis to ensure Chassis decking, wheel alignment and driveline alignment dimensional and functional objectives are met. They will re-run tolerance analysis to ensure there is no degradation to Dimensional and Functional Objectives based on Supplier feedback.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree preferred
  • Preferred automotive experience in sheet metal stampings, body shop manufacturing, general assembly manufacturing including chassis, interior and exterior trim
  • GD&T ASME Y14.5 certification with experience in automotive applications
  • Experience with 3-Dimensional Tolerance Analysis, especially 3-DCS
  • 5 years' experience solving dimensional quality issues in a manufacturing plant.
  • 5 years' experience with dimensional measurement and statistical quality control
