Overview

The BITI Wireless Systems Engineer II supports the engineering and maintenance of the organization's systems infrastructure. Responsibilities include designing, implementing hardware and software solutions, monitoring system performance, and assisting with architectural documentation, TCTO documentation, and validation. The role also involves ensuring STIG compliance, preparing status reports, coordinating testing and validation of system upgrades, and managing configuration and change processes to keep projects on track.

Responsibilities
  • Block network connectivity and remove rogue Access Points (APs) identified by base NCCs.
  • Control access for interfering APs as required.
  • Maintain configuration data within AirWave Management System.
  • Support future expansions of BITI Wireless Technologies across the Air Force.
  • Troubleshoot wired infrastructure components related to BITI Wireless technologies.
  • Assist users with wireless access issues.
  • Collaborate with Aruba network engineers on troubleshooting and fault resolution.
  • Support system inspections (e.g., CCRI, Scope Edge).
  • Manage provisioning and connectivity of APs.
  • Follow processes for configuration and management of wireless devices.
  • Respond to outages and ensure system functionality.
  • Document configuration and asset management details.
  • Coordinate between BITI Wireless PMO and field units.
  • Configure and manage Aruba ClearPass network components.
  • Troubleshoot connectivity issues related to VRF and GRE tunnels.
Qualifications
  • 5–7 years of infrastructure support experience in mid-to-large data centers.
  • At least 5 years of hands-on experience with:
    • Juniper/Pulse Secure NAC (a plus)
    • Advanced networking concepts, VLANs, trunking, port channels
  • Strong diagnostics and troubleshooting skills.
  • Expertise in disaster recovery, high availability, and risk mitigation.
  • Knowledge of data communications, LAN/WAN, routers, switches.
  • Understanding of IP routing, switching, and the OSI model.
  • Ability to coordinate activities across agencies and prioritize tasks.
  • Critical thinking, self-starting, multi-tasking abilities.
  • Diplomatic, adaptable, dependable, and reliable approach to work.

Certification

  • Active IAT II certification required.

Clearance

  • Active DoD Secret security clearance or ability to obtain an Interim Secret clearance required.
