Job summary

Friendship in Roanoke, VA is seeking a Cook to join our Bistro ’66 team. You will prepare daily meals for residents, staff, and visitors, while ensuring proper food handling and sanitation.

Shifts are full-time, 8-hour blocks, with hours from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. The role emphasizes teamwork, adherence to safety policies, and the ability to follow forecast sheets and meal plans.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Cook experience preferred but not required.
• Ability to work tactfully with residents and staff.

Responsibilities

• Prepare daily meals for residents, staff and visitors following directions.
• Monitor food handling, storage and serving to ensure safety and quality.
• Use forecasting sheets and communicate changes or substitutions as needed.
• Follow cleaning schedules for equipment, surfaces and cooking areas.
• Maintain accurate records and coordinate with kitchen staff on production.

Friendship is looking for aCook to join our new Bistro ’66 team, located in Roanoke, VA . The Cook is responsible for preparing daily meals for residents, staff and visitors. They will monitor food handling, storage and serving.

Shifts Available:

• Full Time 8 hour shifts – Hours of operation are 6:30 a.m. – 7:30 p.m. daily
• Correctly and safely uses kitchen equipment and utensils for food preparation, service and cleaning
• Abide by facility policies and procedures as well as laws and regulations related to food safety and sanitation
• Prepares quality, nutritious foods by following direction/assignments; prepares special foods by request on forecast sheets
• Follows cleaning schedule of equipment and areas as assigned, to include walls, floors and cooking equipment
• Uses communication sheets to tell staff which foods have been prepared and seeks approval for any changes or substitutions
• Understands and uses forecasting, work production and communication sheets

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Cook experience preferred
• Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, visitors, and the general public
