Job description

Join to apply for the Birthday Parties/Events Host role at Michaels Stores.

Plan, coordinate, and facilitate events (including kids' birthday parties) within a Michaels store to provide a fun, engaging, and stress-free experience for guests. Assist customers with shopping, product location, and checkout to ensure a friendly and efficient service. Complete operational tasks such as unloading trucks, merchandising, and maintaining store standards to uphold our Brand Promises.

Event Coordination
  • Plan and coordinate multiple events simultaneously, including children’s birthday parties and craft classes.
  • Create a fun and creative environment for guests of all ages.
  • Demonstrate crafts, perform face painting, and lead activities.
  • Implement party add-ons like goody bags and balloons according to company standards.
  • Communicate effectively with clients and team members about events.
  • Handle administrative duties such as emails, calls, and paperwork.
  • Adjust plans based on client feedback and create backup plans as needed.
  • Ensure client satisfaction and uphold cleanliness and safety standards before, during, and after events.
Customer Experience
  • Assist customers with shopping, locating products, and providing solutions.
  • Ensure a quick, friendly checkout process.
  • Promote Rewards programs and Credit Card enrollments.
  • Educate customers about Voice of Customer surveys and support Omni channel processes like BOPIS and SFS.
  • Participate in stocking, planogram, and recovery tasks.
  • Support safety and shrink reduction programs.
  • Adhere to SOPs and company policies, maintaining a positive, respectful attitude.
  • Cross-train in Custom Framing sales and production.
  • Participate in store cleanliness activities.
Preferred Skills and Experience
  • Energetic, enthusiastic personality with excellent people skills.
  • Experience working with children and managing children’s events.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Retail or customer service experience required.
Physical and Work Environment
  • Ability to stand for long periods and move throughout the store.
  • Regular bending, lifting, and carrying, including heavy boxes and using ladders.
  • Work involves nights, weekends, and early mornings in a climate-controlled environment.

Applicants in the U.S. must meet legal requirements. The pay range is $18.00 - $21.20 per hour.
