Shift: 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM | 32 hours per week

Job Description

The Surgical Technician (ST), under the guidance of the Registered Nurse (RN), is responsible for the care and treatment of patients undergoing cesarean birth in the Operating Room and for patients having vaginal births in the LDRPP rooms. The ST is also responsible for cleaning, restocking, and general maintenance of equipment and supplies in The Birth Place. The ST has full access to patient health information and may have access to medication storage areas (excluding controlled substances) as related to job responsibilities.

Requirements
  • High School Graduate or equivalent
  • Graduate of an approved program for Surgical Technicians
  • Thorough knowledge of principles and practice of surgical asepsis
  • Certification in BCLS
  • Successful completion of hospital and unit-specific orientation, including age and population-specific skills for the practice area and addressing growth and development needs of patients
  • Must possess full range of body motion to pass basic FIT test, including walking, kneeling, standing, pushing, pulling, bending, stooping, reaching, and sitting for extended periods. Must be able to lift and carry up to 30 pounds
