Job summary

Brown University Health’s Newport Hospital in Newport, RI seeks a professional registered nurse for the Birthing Center. Under supervision of the Nurse Manager, you advocate for patients and apply the nursing process across life spans in alignment with hospital policies.

Per Diem - As required, with shifts as needed. Responsibilities include monitoring, documenting, providing comfort, involving families, and collaborating with the health team to achieve desired patient outcomes.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
• Current BLS Certification (American Heart Association)
• Understanding of Rhode Island Nurse Practice Act and patient care across life span

Responsibilities

• Recognizes and reports deviations from patient care and documents nursing interventions
• Maintains patient safety and comfort; provides basic support per patient needs
• Engages patients and families in achieving optimal functioning and activities of daily living
• Sets priorities, seeks guidance when needed, and responds to emergencies with timely interventions
• Documents assessments, plans of care, and evaluates outcomes to modify care when indicated
• Ensures compliance with Rhode Island Nurse Practice Act and hospital policies
• Participates in quality improvement and unit meetings to support patient care management
