Job summary

Lilac Health is seeking a PRN Birth Assistant for Charleston Birth Center in Charleston, SC. The role supports CNMs, assists during labor and birth, and ensures patient-first care in a small birth center setting.

The Birth Assistant collaborates with CNMs, communicates with hospital teams, and participates in drills and quality improvements to maintain a safe, supportive environment for birthing families.

Qualifications

• Currently licensed as an RN or CPM in South Carolina.
• Minimum of one year of experience in maternal/child health, labor and delivery, and neonatal care.
• Current neonatal and adult CPR certification.

Responsibilities

• Assist the midwife when unplanned events occur and escalate care as needed.
• Communicate with hospital or other providers for escalation of care (SBAR).
• Provide patient-centered care and support to CNMs, patients and families.
• Attend meetings as requested by supervisor and participate in drills and continuous quality improvement.
