Job summary

SURVICE Engineering is seeking a Biotechnology Research Scientist in Adelphi, MD to support Aberdeen operations. You will accelerate your career as part of a defense-focused team, performing culture work, DNA analyses, and genetic circuit evaluation in a regulated environment.

The role requires a biology degree with 2+ years of experience, hands-on experience in microbiology and genetic methods, and the ability to document procedures and results for formal government submission.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Biological Sciences.
• 2+ years of relevant experience in microbiology and genetics.
• Experience designing, assembling and testing functional genetic circuits.
• Experience documenting procedures, results, and conclusions.

Responsibilities

• Set up and maintain microbial cultures using sterile technique and proper waste disposal.
• Handle hazardous chemicals safely and manage and communicate risks.
• Perform DNA workflows including PCR, RT-PCR, and gel analyses.
• Work with engineered strains, electroporation, and clone selection.
• Operate fluorescence and plate reader instruments for analyses.
• Conduct enzymatic and molecular assays for kinetic or endpoint data.
