Job summary

William Blair in Boston or New York seeks a seasoned equity research professional to plan, execute and present fundamental analysis across designated sectors. You will collaborate with investment teams, build financial models, and develop investment ideas with strong client-facing commentary.

The role requires 3+ years in investment research, advanced analytical skills, and ability to communicate complex ideas clearly. Office-based with opportunities for collaboration across North America.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree with significant experience in coverage industry/sector required.
• CFA, CPA, or technical designation preferred.
• 3+ years of related investment research experience required.
• Coverage in cell & gene therapy and/or inflammation & immunology preferred.
• SIE Exam, Series 7, Series 63, Series 86, and Series 87 required within first 180 days.
• Strong conceptual and critical thinking skills.
• Strong accounting and financial statement analysis skills.
• Ability to build complex computer generated financial models.
• Strong written and verbal communications skills, and the ability to convey complex financial information clearly.
• Client service oriented; able to work independently; proficient in MS Office, Bloomberg and data sources.
• Preference to sit in Boston or New York office.

Responsibilities

• Apply specialized fundamental and technical research knowledge to plan, conduct and present findings of equity research studies.
• Collaborate with investment teams to plan research studies and define objectives and analysis parameters.
• Analyze and interpret data to identify opportunities and synthesize key findings for reports.
• Identify and formulate new investment ideas; provide opinions to clients and generate new business.
• Guide the creation of reports, presentations and educational materials for teams and clients.
• Cultivate relationships with company executives through interviews and visits.
• Provide guidance to less experienced team members.
• Ensure compliance with applicable rules and procedures.
