Job summary

The University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia seeks a Biostatistician to develop and apply statistical theory and methods to support life sciences research, contributing to study design, data analysis, and interpretation of results in clinical, laboratory, or population-based studies.

You will perform statistical analyses, design analysis plans, manage REDCap databases, and contribute to manuscripts under supervision. Position is contingent upon continued funding.

  • Master of Science and 3 to 5 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.

  • Conduct appropriate statistical analysis, under the supervision of senior biostatisticians, for applications in multicenter clinical trials/studies, medical claims or electronic health record data, as well as single center/laboratory projects in ophthalmic research.
  • Design, test, implement & document statistical computer programming in high-level statistical software packages (SAS,R)
  • Develop short-term project-specific biostatistics design and analysis plans under the supervision of senior biostatisticians
  • Develop, document, and maintain Redcap database and the analytic data files
  • Write summary reports and create graphs for manuscripts and proposals
  • Write and edit statistical methods sections of manuscripts
  • Develop working knowledge of methodologic issues in ophthalmic research
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Job Description Summary

Develops and applies statistical theory and methods to support research in the life sciences. Contributes to study design, data analysis, and interpretation of results, and collaborates within investigators to ensure scientific rigor and meaningful outcomes in clinical, laboratory, or population-based studies.

Salary offers are made based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, skills, and education as they directly relate to the requirements of the position, and in alignment with salary ranges based on external market data for the job's level.
