Job summary

The City of Tyler is seeking a Wastewater Biosolids Truck Driver to transport biosolids to and from wastewater treatment plants and landfill, ensuring compliance with State and Federal requirements before disposal or discharge.

You will operate a five-axle truck with a trailer, monitor equipment, and perform routine maintenance, all while maintaining safety and regulatory standards. This is a full-time position requiring availability for overtime, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; two years of job-related experience preferred but not required.
• Must have a Class A CDL with an air brake certification and have a good driving record.
• Must be able to work overtime and weekends as assigned.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, work in extremes of temperature, and be available for possible on-call duty.

Job description

Transport biosolids to and from wastewater treatment plants and City landfill. To operate processes of a wastewater biosolids facility and a wastewater treatment facility. Ensure that biosolids and water quality standards meet State and Federal requirements before disposal or discharge.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

1. Drive biosolids truck and trailer.
2. Work with electrical equipment and hazardous materials.
3. Read, interpret, and apply federal and state regulations required by the State of Texas Wastewater Discharge Permit.
4. Monitor charts, meters, recorders, and equipment, and adjust accordingly.
5. Oversee truck and trailer maintenance.
6. Coordinate maintenance items with Vehicle Services.
7. Perform minor maintenance on equipment as required by the manufacturer.
8. Maintain maintenance records.
9. Maintain a clean truck and trailer.
10. Troubleshoot biosolids and wastewater processes and act accordingly.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS

1. Assist with sludge press operations.
2. Perform other related job duties as assigned.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES

1. Must be able to operate a five-axle combination truck and dump trailer hauling materials.
2. Must be familiar with hand tools, operate a loader, backhoe, and forklift to load materials on trucks.
3. Communicate effectively with management, employees, and the general public.
4. Must be able to work in extremes of temperature; must be able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally, 25 pounds frequently.
5. Must be available for possible on-call duty, which may work after hours, weekends, and holidays.
6. Must have a telephone and reliable transportation.

Education and Experience

High School diploma or GED required; two (2) years of job-related experience preferred but not required. Must have a Class "A" Commercial Driver's license with an air brake certification and have a good driving record. Must be able to work overtime and weekends as assigned.
