Job summary

Nationwide Children's Hospital is seeking a laboratory professional to perform accurate processing, testing, and results for the Biopathology Center, including data handling, inventory management, and long-term specimen storage per protocols.

This role requires maintaining safety, adhering to SOPs and privacy standards, and coordinating with clinical, research, and operations teams while contributing to training and process improvements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a chemical, biological, clinical or medical laboratory science or medical technology from an accredited institution or equivalent per 42 CFR 493.1489(b)(3)(ii).
• ASCP certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine and complex technical procedures and functions in the laboratory information system including processing, reporting, tracking, inventory management and long-term storage.
• Performs preventive maintenance, supply upkeep, and quality control with proper documentation and communication.
• Keeps up to date on lab and biorepository techniques, adhering to SOPs as required.
• Addresses specimen integrity, data accuracy, or workflow issues and recommends resolutions.
• Maintains a safe environment, handles confidential patient- and research-related materials per privacy standards.
• Supports process development, workflow optimization, and quality assurance initiatives.
• Collaborates with clinical, research, and operational teams and supports onboarding and training.
