Job summary

The role serves as a supportive member of the research team, performing routine specimen handling, documentation, and quality checks in accordance with SOPs, while collaborating with researchers to ensure timely workflows.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Science or equivalent with related experience.
• Coursework in anatomy, physiology, statistics, and research methods preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collect, process, and store biospecimens per SOPs.
• Maintain accurate records of collection, processing, storage.
• Label and track specimens through all steps.
• Perform quality control checks on specimens.
• Maintain laboratory equipment and supplies; order as needed.
• Communicate with staff and researchers to ensure timely workflows.

Job Description Summary

Collects, processes, and stores biological specimens for laboratory testing and research purposes. Does not perform hypothesis-based research or analysis on the biospecimens – serves as a supporting role to facilitate research.

Essential Functions

• Collects, processes, and stores biological specimens according to established protocols and standard operating procedures.
• Maintains accurate records of specimen collection, processing, and storage.
• Ensures that specimens are properly labeled and tracked throughout the collection and storage process.
• Performs quality control checks on specimens to ensure that they meet established standards.
• Maintains laboratory equipment and supplies, and orders new supplies as needed.
• Communicates with other laboratory staff and researchers to ensure that specimens are collected and processed in a timely and efficient manner.

Education Requirements

• Bachelor's of Science or equivalent certification and experience, required.
• Coursework in anatomy, physiology, statistics, and relevant research methods, preferred.
