Job summary

Piper Companies is seeking a Laboratory Technician to support a biopharmaceutical manufacturing organization in Baltimore, MD. This onsite role focuses on bioassay testing and cell culture operations, with hands-on responsibility for media prep, cell maintenance, and GMP documentation.

The ideal candidate holds an associate or bachelor’s degree with relevant experience, understands GMP/SOPs, and can perform data analyses, manage inventory, and support equipment maintenance in a regulated lab

Qualifications

• Associate degree with 2+ years of related experience or bachelor's degree with 0–2 years of related experience.
• Knowledge of laboratory practices, cell culture techniques, or biological assay environments.
• Understanding or ability to develop proficiency in GMP and SOP requirements.
• Strong documentation, organization, and recordkeeping skills.
• Ability to work in a regulated laboratory environment and complete required safety training.
• Proficiency with data analysis, laboratory documentation, and inventory management.
• Ability to work rotating weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed.

Responsibilities

• Prepare cell culture media including Iscove’s complete media, Bioassay media, and 0.1% Trypan Blue.
• Thaw, culture, maintain, document, and cryopreserve cell lines in compliance with GMP standards.
• Perform Cellular Response Assays and assist with bioassays and Fetal Bovine Serum evaluations.
• Conduct statistical analysis and review bioassay results.
• Monitor, maintain, clean, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment and facilities per SOPs.
• Maintain GMP documentation, draft SOPs and reports, and support laboratory record archival.
• Assist with inventory management, ordering supplies, cycle counts, and laboratory stocking.
