Job summary

UnityPoint Health is seeking a Biomedical Technician I, II, or III to provide patient equipment service and maintenance across affiliate sites. The role includes advanced specialty equipment work, project leadership, and ongoing training. Reports to the Clinical Engineer Site Manager or supervisor.

Ideal candidates hold an associate degree in Biomedical Engineering Technology or related IT field, and have 5+ years BMET experience. Travel to affiliate sites and on-call rotations are required.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in Biomedical Engineering Technology, Electronics, or related IT field; military BMET course graduate required.
• Bachelor's degree preferred; IT certifications such as Network+/Security+ preferred.

Responsibilities

• Technical service: preventive and corrective maintenance, inspections, installations, calibration of general, advanced, and specialty biomedical equipment; coordinate vendor activities; participate in on-call rotations and travel between sites.
• Regulatory compliance: maintain CMMS documentation, asset inventory, and adherence to MEMP and state/federal regulations.
• Customer relationship: communicate equipment status to clinical staff, educate on proper use, support safe patient care.

Overview

We're looking for a Biomedical Technician I, II or III to join our team! In this role, you'll provide patient equipment service and maintenance. The level III role has advanced specialty patient care equipment service and maintenance performance, advanced project management and leadership responsibilities. The BMET position has direct reporting responsibilities to the assigned affiliate Unity Point Clinical Engineer Site Manager or designated Supervisor.

Responsibilities

• Technical Service: Perform preventive and corrective maintenance, inspections, installations, troubleshooting, and calibration of general, advanced, and specialty biomedical equipment (including PCs, networks, and imaging devices). Lead projects, mentor BMET I & II staff, coordinate vendor activities, and maintain expertise through ongoing training. Participate in on-call rotations and travel between affiliate sites as needed.
• Regulatory Compliance: Ensure accurate documentation in the CMMS system, maintain equipment inventory, and adhere to the Medical Equipment Management Plan (MEMP) and all state/federal regulations.
• Customer Relationship Management: Communicate equipment status and service updates to clinical staff, provide education on proper use, and support safe, effective patient care delivery.

Qualifications

Education

• Associate's degree in Biomedical Engineering Technology, Electronics, or other Technology/IT related program; militaryBiomedical Engineering Technician course graduaterequired.
• Bachelor's degree preferred. CompTIA Network+, Security+or other IT related certifications preferred.

Experience

• Minimum five (5) years documented Biomedical Engineering Technology experience AND currently meets all BMET III job function requirementsrequired.
