The ideal candidate has an associate degree or equivalent experience, with 1 year of biomedical PM/repair and strong troubleshooting skills.

Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree in Electronics, Biomedical Engineering, or related field is required or equivalent experience.
  • 2 years of progressive experience in electronic/electromechanical repairs and preventive maintenance may substitute for degree.
  • 1 year progressive experience in repairs and PM on biomedical equipment.
  • Component-level repair ability ~35% of tasks.
  • Knowledge of QA, testing equipment, and PM procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance on biomedical and clinical equipment.
  • Carry out safety checks, repairs, and installations of biomedical devices.
  • Source supplies to service equipment cost-effectively.
  • Maintain technical literature and references for biomedical systems.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and quality standards.
  • Deliver in-service training on equipment and electrical safety.

Education

Job Details

Provides advanced levels of equipment and/or departmental service and support. Performs preventive maintenance, quality assurance inspections, installation, testing, calibration, troubleshooting, repair, and general maintenance on biomedical, clinical data/network systems, and related technologies.

Provides advanced levels of equipment and/or departmental service and support. Performs preventive maintenance, quality assurance inspections, installation, testing, calibration, troubleshooting, repair, and general maintenance on biomedical, clinical data/network systems, and related technologies.

Job Duties
  • Completes the preventive maintenance (PM) workload to achieve a consistently high level of PM compliance over time.
  • Provides safety checks, repairs, and installations of biomedical and communications equipment.
  • Identifies and obtains supplies and other materials required to service, maintain, and repair equipment at the lowest possible cost.
  • Establishes and maintains supporting technical literature such as manufacturer's literature, references standards, specifications, and other documents necessary for supporting the biomedical program.
  • Ensures that the biomedical equipment is in compliance with applicable regulatory requirements and quality control standards.
  • Makes effective presentations to small groups of peers to ensure staff remains up to date on new trends.
  • Provides in-service and training on biomedical equipment and electrical safety.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Associate's Degree in Electronics, Biomedical Engineering, or related fields or
  • High School Diploma/GED along with 2 years of progressive experience performing electronic and/or electromechanical repairs and preventive maintenance on both general and specialized biomedical equipment will be considered in lieu of degree.
  • 1 year progressive experience performing electronic and/or electromechanical repairs and preventive maintenance on both general and specialized biomedical equipment.
  • Ability to perform component level repairs at least 35% of the time.
  • Proficient in the repair and preventive maintenance of the following devices: Anesthesia Machines, Anesthetic Gas Analyzers, Blood Cell Savers, and the Diagnostic Ultrasound machines.
  • Knowledge of state-of-the-art electronic and test equipment, quality assurance procedures, and preventive maintenance procedures.
  • Knowledge of source, use, and applications of alternative parts providers as related to electronic or electromechanical equipment.
  • Knowledge of computer software-based work order tracking systems.
  • Ability to use vendor-supplied service documentation, technical manuals, and general electronics industry parts specification materials in order to test, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair assigned equipment and related systems.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and to be self motivated and self disciplined.
  • Effectively deals with multiple and changing priorities.
  • Must be able to visit multiple business locations. (Dependent on employment location)
Additional Qualifications
  • Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's Degree Electronics, Biomedical Engineering, or related fields.
  • 2 years progressive experience performing electronic and/or electromechanical repairs and preventive maintenance on both general and specialized biomedical equipment.
  • CBET - Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician - Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation Upon Hire
  • DL - Driver's License_PA - State of Pennsylvania Upon Hire
Physical Demands

Lift and carry 25 lbs. frequent sitting/standing, frequent keyboard use, *patient care providers may be required to perform activities specific to their role including kneeling, bending, squatting and performing CPR.

Salary Range

The actual hiring rate will be determined based on candidate experience, skills and qualifications. This position is not eligible for an annual incentive.

Positions posted as annual salaries reflect an estimated amount for a 1.0 Full-Time Equivalent (FTE) (i.e. 40 hour equivalent)), positions for less than 1.0 FTE will be prorated.)
