Job summary

Baton Rouge General Medical Center is seeking a Biomedical Technician II to maintain and repair essential patient care equipment, ensuring safety and reliability across our facilities. You’ll support junior technicians and contribute to our department’s capabilities while adhering to PM schedules and manufacturer guidelines.

The role requires 3–6 years of medical equipment maintenance experience and an associate degree in electronic/biomedical technology or equivalent.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in electronic technology, biomedical technology, or equivalent military training/experience.
• 3–6 years of experience maintaining medical equipment.
• Proficient in medical electronic principles, schematics, and theories.
• Independent problem solver with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair critical patient care equipment to ensure optimal operation and safety.
• Provide guidance to junior Biomedical Technician I team members.
• Complete preventive maintenance per work orders and manufacturer guidelines.
• Troubleshoot and repair a variety of medical equipment using test equipment and service manuals.
• Calibrate and repair complex patient care devices.
• Ensure all repaired equipment is safety-checked and documented.

What You Will Do

Play a key role in maintaining and repairing critical patient care equipment to ensure optimal operation and safety throughout the healthcare system. As a Biomedical Technician II, you will also support the development of junior technicians and help enhance our department's capabilities.

• Complete all assigned preventive maintenance (PM) for the current and prior months, following work orders and manufacturer guidelines
• Maintain accurate PM program documentation in accordance with department policies
• Troubleshoot and repair a variety of medical equipment using test equipment and service manuals
• Ensure all repaired equipment is thoroughly safety-checked and documented
• Calibrate and repair complex patient care devices
• Provide guidance and technical assistance to Biomedical Technician I team members
• Perform other duties as assigned
