Job summary

Thomas Jefferson University seeks a Biomedical Equipment Technician to support biomedical, clinical data/network systems. The role involves preventive maintenance, testing, calibration, troubleshooting, and repair of equipment across multiple locations.

You will manage parts, train staff, and coordinate with external service providers. Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or GED and familiarity with electronic test equipment, PM procedures, and work-order systems.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Knowledge of state-of-the-art electronic and test equipment, QA procedures, and PM procedures.
  • Knowledge of sources and applications of alternative parts for electronic equipment.
  • Knowledge of computer software-based work order tracking systems.
  • Ability to use service documentation, manuals, and parts specs to test, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair equipment.
  • Ability to work well in a team and to be self-motivated and disciplined.
  • Ability to handle multiple changing priorities.
  • Must be able to visit multiple business locations depending on employment location.

Responsibilities

  • Completes the PM workload for assigned equipment to achieve high PM compliance.
  • Performs database management to maintain device control records and schedule data.
  • Evaluates extent and source of repairs and determines cost-effective action to maximize uptime.
  • Identifies and procures parts, supplies, and materials to service and repair equipment at lowest cost.
  • Performs repairs on defective equipment.
  • Provides in-service training to other clinical engineering technicians.
  • Assists with, evaluates, and monitors work by outside service providers.

Performs preventive maintenance, quality assurance inspections, installation, testing, calibration, troubleshooting, repair, and general maintenance on biomedical, clinical data/network systems, and related technologies. Job Duties
  • Completes the preventive maintenance (PM) workload for assigned equipment to achieve a consistently high level of PM compliance over time.
  • Performs database management functions with regard to maintaining accurate device control records and entering complete and accurate scheduled and non-scheduled work-order data.
  • Evaluates the extent/source of repairs on malfunctioning equipment and determines the course of action needed to cost-effectively maximize equipment uptime.
  • Identifies and obtains parts, supplies, and other technical resource materials required to service, maintain, test, and repair equipment at the lowest possible cost.
  • Performs repairs on defective or malfunctioning equipment.
  • Provides in-service training to other clinical engineering service technicians.
  • Assists with, evaluates, and monitors the work performed by outside service providers.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Knowledge of state-of-the-art electronic and test equipment, quality assurance procedures, and preventive maintenance procedures.
  • Knowledge of source, use, and applications of alternative parts providers as related to electronic or electromechanical equipment.
  • Knowledge of computer software-based work order tracking systems.
  • Ability to use vendor-supplied service documentation, technical manuals, and general electronics industry parts specification materials in order to test, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair assigned equipment and related systems.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and to be self motivated and self disciplined.
  • Effectively deals with multiple and changing priorities.
  • Must be able to visit multiple business locations. (Dependent on employment location)

DL - Driver's License_PA - State of Pennsylvania

Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate’s Degree Electronics, Biomedical Engineering, or related fields.
Upon Hire

Physical Demands Lift and carry 25 lbs. frequent sitting/standing, frequent keyboard use, *patient care providers may be required to perform activities specific to their role including kneeling, bending, squatting and performing CPR.
