Job summary

Mass General Brigham's The General Hospital Corporation is seeking a Biomedical Technician I to maintain and repair medical equipment onsite at 100 Blossom Street, Boston.

You will perform inspections, calibration, safety testing, and routine maintenance, while supporting equipment evaluations, installations, and upgrades. Strong communication and troubleshooting skills are essential for success in this role.

Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree in Biomedical Technician required.
  • 1–2 years of biomedical technician experience preferred.
  • Interpersonal and communication skills important for team and vendors.
  • Knowledge of electrical and mechanical biomedical safety principles.
  • Ability to use test equipment and software diagnostic tools.

Responsibilities

  • Inspects new medical devices and assigns control numbers and labels.
  • Performs safety testing and preventive maintenance on devices.
  • Responds to equipment problems and troubleshoots malfunctions.
  • Repairs devices to board or component level when needed.
  • Participates in equipment evaluations, installations, upgrades, and software revisions.
  • Conducts rounds to assess device operation and documents activities.
  • Trains staff on testing, calibration, preventive maintenance, and repairs.

Does this position require Patient Care? No Essential Functions -Inspects newly acquired medical devices and systems for safety and function and attaches and assigns appropriate control numbers and labels to medical devices. -Conducts complete performance assurance and electrical safety testing. Performs preventive/scheduled maintenance on medical devices as required. -Respond to medical equipment problems in clinical or research areas; evaluate, troubleshoot, and solve problems. -Performs equipment repairs to a level requiring generic test instrumentation or diagnostic software, e.g., to board or component level for electrical devices. -Participates in medical equipment evaluations, installations, and upgrades, including software revision. -Makes periodic rounds of assigned clinical areas to assess the operation of medical devices and systems. -Instructs department and other equipment technical staff on testing, calibration, preventive maintenance, basic troubleshooting, and medical equipment repair. -Documents inspections, repairs, maintenance procedures, and teaching activities.**Qualifications**Education Associate's Degree Biomedical Technician required Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree?
