Job summary

Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking Biomedical Scientists for the Cellular Pathology unit. The role involves working across all sections of a busy histopathology laboratory, including dissection, embedding, staining and immunohistochemistry.

The service uses digital pathology reporting and advancement in laboratory techniques. Candidates may be graduates with IBMS accreditation or current trainee BMS progressing to HCPC registration.

Qualifications

• Requires IBMS-accredited Biomedical Sciences degree or trainee BMS with HCPC registration path.
• Demonstrates ability to work in a busy histopathology laboratory.
• Good communication and team-working skills.

Responsibilities

• Work as a BMS across all sections of the laboratory.
• Perform section cutting, embedding, special staining, immunohistochemistry and reception/dissection duties.
• Carry out frozen sections and Mohs dissection where required.
• Assist with audits, quality control, training and lab development.
• Contribute to service improvement and education of trainee staff.
