Job summary

Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center seeks a laboratory support professional to conduct specified research project phases on infectious disease transmission and species divergence. This role includes developing new procedures, maintaining clean lab spaces, ordering supplies, and potentially supervising junior staff.

Responsibilities include planning experiments, maintaining records, ensuring equipment functionality, and coordinating with the PI on procurement and safety.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a science or equivalent combination (4 years) of education/experience.
• Experience with laboratory recordkeeping and data management.
• Experience with basic molecular biology and protein biochemistry methods is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plan, design, and conduct laboratory experiments and assist with data interpretation.
• Maintain laboratory records, protocols, equipment, inventory and purchasing.
• Support operations by keeping facilities and equipment clean and functional.
• Coordinate procurement, inventory, and distribution of supplies with PI approval.
• Safeguard research materials and address equipment issues and disruptions.
• Provide guidance to research personnel and students as needed.
