Job description

Staffing Solutions Organization (SSO) is seeking a Biomedical Prevention Services Coordinator to support the Maine CDC Infectious Disease Prevention Program. This position plays a critical role in advancing HIV prevention efforts across Maine through the development, coordination, and expansion of statewide biomedical prevention initiatives, including Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP), Post-Exposure Prophylaxis (PEP), and status-neutral care programs.

The successful candidate will work closely with clinical providers, community organizations, public health partners, and state agencies to increase access to HIV prevention services, strengthen referral networks, provide technical assistance, and improve health outcomes for populations disproportionately impacted by HIV. Responsibilities
Program Development & Coordination
  • Develop, implement, monitor, and evaluate statewide HIV prevention initiatives focused on PrEP and PEP access.
  • Expand and strengthen biomedical prevention programs through partnerships with community and clinical organizations.
  • Support statewide efforts to improve HIV prevention outcomes and status-neutral care services.
  • Monitor PrEP and PEP utilization and identify opportunities for program improvement.
Partnership & Community Engagement
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for PrEP/PEP activities with healthcare providers, community organizations, federal partners, and the public.
  • Build and maintain relationships with infectious disease providers, pharmacies, Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs), urgent care centers, and community partners.
  • Coordinate participation in HIV, STI, viral hepatitis, and harm reduction planning groups.
  • Facilitate collaboration among internal and external stakeholders to advance public health goals.
Technical Assistance & Education
  • Provide technical assistance and guidance to community and clinical partners implementing HIV prevention services.
  • Conduct education and outreach activities related to HIV prevention, PrEP, PEP, and status-neutral care.
  • Develop and strengthen referral pathways to improve access to prevention services.
  • Present information to diverse audiences, including healthcare professionals, community organizations, and public health partners.
Data, Reporting & Evaluation
  • Monitor program performance and evaluate HIV prevention outcomes.
  • Collect, analyze, interpret, and report program data.
  • Prepare technical reports and program updates for state and federal partners.
  • Review integrated HIV, STI, viral hepatitis, and harm reduction data to inform public health strategies.
Public Health Response
  • Participate in outbreak preparedness, emergency response, and public health planning activities.
  • Assist with HIV outbreak investigations and response efforts.
  • Conduct rapid HIV and HCV testing as needed and document results in Maine CDC systems.
  • Support overall Infectious Disease Prevention Program initiatives and special projects.
Qualifications
  • Master\'s degree in Public Health, Community Health Education, Public Administration, Education, Behavioral Sciences, Health Sciences, or a related field.
  • Two (2) years of experience in community or health education program planning, development, implementation, or evaluation.
  • Directly related professional experience may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis.
Required Skills
  • Experience developing or implementing HIV prevention, PrEP, or PEP programs.
  • Knowledge of HIV, sexually transmitted infections (STIs), viral hepatitis, harm reduction, and public health prevention strategies.
  • Experience collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local public health policies and programs.
  • Experience working with diverse communities and multidisciplinary partners.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong written, verbal, facilitation, and public speaking skills.

Pay range and compensation package

Pay Rate: $82,118.40
