Job summary

Lehigh Valley Health Network is seeking a Biomedical Equipment Technician to support preventive maintenance, testing, calibration, and repair of imaging and related medical equipment. The role emphasizes accurate documentation, cost-conscious parts sourcing, and collaborative work with clinical teams.

The successful candidate will perform PM workloads, troubleshoot equipment, and assist with external service providers while contributing to patient safety and equipment uptime in a high-quality

Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree in Electronics, Biomedical Engineering, or related field with imaging training.
  • Knowledge of electronic/test equipment and preventive maintenance procedures.
  • Experience with quality assurance procedures and documentation.
  • Ability to use vendor service documentation and manuals.
  • Familiarity with work order tracking systems.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance on assigned equipment to maintain high PM compliance.
  • Maintain accurate device control records and work-order data entry.
  • Assess repairs and determine cost-effective actions to maximize uptime.
  • Source parts and supplies to service equipment cost-effectively.
  • Perform repairs on defective equipment and test functionality.
  • Provide in-service training to other technicians.
  • Assist with oversight of outside service providers.

Summary Provides basic levels of equipment and/or departmental service and support. Performs preventive maintenance, quality assurance inspections, installation, testing, calibration, troubleshooting, repair, and general maintenance on one or more categories of specialized biomedical, imaging equipment, clinical data/network systems, and related technologies.

Job Duties
  • Completes the preventive maintenance (PM) workload for assigned equipment to achieve a consistently high level of PM compliance over time.
  • Performs database management functions with regard to maintaining accurate device control records and entering complete and accurate scheduled and non-scheduled work-order data.
  • Evaluates the extent/source of repairs on malfunctioning equipment and determines the course of action needed to cost-effectively maximize equipment uptime.
  • Identifies and obtains parts, supplies, and other technical resource materials required to service, maintain, test, and repair equipment at the lowest possible cost.
  • Performs repairs on defective or malfunctioning equipment.
  • Provides in-service training to other clinical engineering service technicians.
  • Assists with, evaluates, and monitors the work performed by outside service providers.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Associate's Degree Electronics, Biomedical Engineering, or related fields orSpecialized or General Imaging Training in specific supported equipment. 1 year progressive experience providing support and maintenance on medical imaging equipment. Knowledge of state-of-the-art electronic and test equipment, quality assurance procedures, and preventive maintenance procedures.
  • Knowledge of source, use, and applications of alternative parts providers as related to electronic or electromechanical equipment.
  • Knowledge of computer software-based work order tracking systems.
  • Ability to use vendor-supplied service documentation, technical manuals, and general electronics industry parts specification materials in order to test, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair assigned equipment and related systems.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and to be self motivated and self disciplined.
  • Effectively deals with multiple and changing priorities.
  • Must be able to visit multiple business locations. (Dependent on employment location)
Physical Demands
  • Lift over 50 lbs.
  • Push/pull up to 140 lbs.
  • Carry 80 lbs. short distances.
  • Frequent standing/walking, squatting, kneeling, crawling, climbing and reaching overhead.
