Job summary

Lehigh Valley Health Network is seeking a Radiology Support Specialist to help deliver patient-centered care in the radiology department. You will assist with patient check-in, ensure orders are complete, and support workflow to promote safety and efficiency.

The role emphasizes compassionate service, accurate documentation, and teamwork; you will coordinate with physicians, radiologists, and technologists, handle registrations, and maintain clean work areas to uphold our high safety standards.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Less than 1 year of customer service experience preferred.
• Demonstrates compassionate, positive, and upbeat disposition.
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
• Basic computer and typing skills.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support - Pennsylvania certification to be obtained within 30 days.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates daily work duties and communicates necessary information.
• Documents LMP, fluoro time, radiologist, history, and other required data.
• Monitors supplies and equipment to meet patient care needs.
• Maintains accurate information in the database and performs clerical tasks.
• Ensures safe movement of patients within and between departments.
• Verifies PACS transfer of images before study completion.
• Performs registrations as required.
• Keeps the work area clean and orderly.

Summary

Performs a variety of support functions to facilitate the delivery of services to radiology patients following the guidelines for radiation safety. Delivers a high level of patient care and customer service to promote patient satisfaction.

Job Duties

• Confirms physician orders are complete and includes signature, ordered study, reason for test (diagnosis/CPT codes) and obtains missing information prior to treatment.
• Ensures coordination of daily work duties and communicates any necessary information.
• Documents LMP, fluoro time, radiologist, appropriate history and all other required documentation.
• Confirms levels of supplies and equipment to meet requirements for patient care and/or specific departments.
• Maintains accurate information in the database; performs all clerical/computer functions to support patient care.
• Ensures the safety and efficiency of movement and transportation of patients within and to and from departments.
• Ensures images have crossed into PACS before study is complete.
• Performs registrations, as required.
• Assumes responsibility for cleanliness and sanitation of the immediate work area and maintains orderliness.

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED
• Less than 1 year experience in a customer service role
• Ability to display a compassionate, positive, and upbeat disposition in interactions with patients and colleagues.
• Ability to multi-task.
• Basic computer and typing skills.
• Interpersonal, and communication skills.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support - State of Pennsylvania within 30 Days

Physical Demands

• Lift and carry 40-50 lbs.
• Examples: Push/pull patients on bed, stretcher (requires 29 lbs. push force), lateral transfers up to 50 lbs. of the patient's weight.
• Frequent to continuous standing/walking.
• Patient transporters can walk 8-10 miles per shift.
• *Patient care providers may be required to perform activities specific to their role including kneeling, bending, squatting and performing CPR.
