Job summary

The Department of Veterans Affairs seeks a Biomedical Equipment Support Specialist to provide clinical and administrative support for medical equipment lifecycle management across the facility.

Responsibilities include applying engineering and electrical concepts to diagnose, repair, and maintain diagnostic and therapeutic devices, and to support staff and patients. Candidates must meet basic requirements and may progress through GS grades based on experience.

Qualifications

• United States citizenship required; non-citizens may be considered if necessary.
• Education or certification options to qualify as Biomedical Equipment Support Specialist as per VA standards.
• Economic grade progression is based on experience and the standard allows grandfathering provisions.

Responsibilities

• Provide lifecycle management and technical support for diagnostic, therapeutic, monitoring, and other medical equipment.
• Support staff, patients, and administrators with clinical and administrative tasks related to equipment.
• Apply engineering and mechanical concepts to maintenance, testing, and operation of medical devices.

Associates or higher in biomedical technology/biomedical engineering

Associates or higher in electronics/IT/engineering + 1 year experience

HTM certificate with internship

HTM certificate without internship + 1 year experience

CBET/CRES/CLES/CHTM certification
