About the position:

The Biomedical Equipment Technician (BMET) III serves as a senior-level technical expert responsible for the maintenance, inspection, calibration, repair, and modernization, lifecycle management of medical equipment supporting the Army Medical Logistics Command (AMLC) Force Projection Directorate (FPD). This position provides advanced biomedical equipment support for Army Prepositioned Stocks (APS), Unit Deployment Packages (UDP), Medical Materiel Readiness Program (MMRP), Foreign Military Sales (FMS), and other medical readiness initiatives that directly support worldwide force projection and sustainment operations.

The BMET III independently performs highly complex technical tasks, provides expert consultation, and serves as a technical resource for Government personnel and junior technicians while ensuring the operational readiness of critical medical equipment assets.

Key Qualifications
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Advanced Medical Equipment Maintenance and Repair
  • Perform complex troubleshooting, diagnosis, repair, calibration, modification, and restoration of a wide variety of biomedical equipment and medical systems.
  • Independently resolve highly technical equipment malfunctions utilizing advanced diagnostic methods, engineering principles, and manufacturer specifications.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance inspections (PMI), electrical safety testing, operational verification, and performance assessments on critical medical devices.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, schematics, service manuals, technical bulletins, and regulatory guidance to support maintenance activities.
Medical Readiness and Force Projection Support
  • Ensure medical equipment supporting APS, UDP, MMRP, and other deployable medical programs remains fully mission capable and deployment ready.
  • Support equipment inspections, readiness assessments, inventories, fielding activities, and reconstitution efforts.
  • Assist in preparing medical equipment for operational deployments, contingency missions, exercises, and sustainment operations.
  • Evaluate equipment readiness and provide recommendations regarding serviceability, replacement, modernization, and sustainment requirements.
Technical Leadership and Advisory Support
  • Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) for biomedical equipment maintenance and lifecycle management.
  • Provide technical guidance, training, and mentorship to junior BMET personnel and logistics staff.
  • Assist Government personnel in evaluating equipment performance, reliability, maintainability, and supportability.
  • Support root-cause analysis efforts and recommend corrective actions to resolve recurring equipment issues.
Equipment Lifecycle and Asset Management
  • Maintain comprehensive maintenance documentation, calibration records, repair histories, service reports, and technical data files.
  • Monitor equipment warranties, service contracts, maintenance schedules, and lifecycle replacement plans.
  • Support medical equipment acquisition planning by providing technical evaluations and recommendations.
  • Ensure accountability and visibility of Government-owned medical equipment assets.
Quality Assurance and Regulatory Compliance
  • Ensure maintenance activities comply with Department of Defense (DoD), Army, Joint Commission, FDA, OEM, and applicable industry standards.
  • Conduct quality control reviews and participate in inspections and compliance assessments.
  • Identify process improvements that increase equipment availability, reliability, and lifecycle performance.
  • Support development and implementation of maintenance procedures, technical guidance, and best practices.
QualificationsMinimum Qualifications
  • Associate degree or higher in Biomedical Equipment Technology, Medical Equipment Technology, Electronics Technology, Biomedical Engineering Technology, or graduated from The DoD Biomedical Maintenance Course, or a related technical discipline.
  • Minimum of twelve (12) years of progressively responsible biomedical equipment maintenance experience.
  • Demonstrated expertise maintaining, calibrating, troubleshooting, and repairing complex biomedical equipment.
  • Extensive experience interpreting schematics, technical manuals, engineering drawings, and manufacturer documentation.
  • Proficiency utilizing computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and standard Microsoft Office applications.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Comprehensive knowledge of biomedical equipment technologies, maintenance programs, calibration standards, and repair methodologies.
  • Expert understanding medical device safety, regulatory compliance, and lifecycle management practices.
  • Ability to perform advanced diagnostics and resolve highly complex technical issues independently.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving capabilities.
  • Ability to lead technical efforts, mentor personnel, and provide expert‑level recommendations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician (CBET) certification is required.
  • Experience supporting Army Medical Logistics Command (AMLC), Defense Health Agency (DHA), military treatment facilities, or Department of Defense medical logistics programs.
  • Experience supporting Army Prepositioned Stocks (APS), deployable medical systems, medical set management, and force projection missions.
  • Familiarity with military medical logistics operations, equipment fielding programs, and readiness reporting requirements.
  • Knowledge of Joint Commission, FDA, NFPA, Army, and DoD medical equipment management regulations and standards.
Security Requirements

Must possess or be eligible to obtain a completed NACLC/T3 investigation with no unfavorable information adjudicated by the appropriate federal authority prior to contract start.
