Job summary

Hartford HealthCare's St Vincents Medical Center seeks a Biomedical Technician to check, maintain and repair a wide range of biomedical equipment. You will document work, support affiliates, and participate in strategic planning for medical technology to improve patient care and safety.

The role blends traditional engineering with hands-on mechanical skills, providing education to staff and collaborating with clinical engineering to meet regulatory requirements and hospital budgets.

Qualifications

• Associate Degree in Electronics or Biomedical Technology preferred.
• Minimum 2–5 years of experience as a Biomedical Technician or related field.
• Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
• Must be proficient with computers.
• Must have a strong customer focus.

Responsibilities

• Repairs, maintains and inventories a wide variety of biomedical equipment through assessment, troubleshooting and diagnosis.
• Documents work performed, utilizing database management system and/or written reports as per department procedure.
• Provides service and support to Hartford HealthCare affiliates and contracted services across the state.
• Participates in strategic planning for medical technology and evaluation of replacement needs.
• Educates staff on proper use of biomedical equipment and diagnostic procedures.
• Assists with special projects to ensure goals are achieved in a cost-effective and patient-centered manner.
