Job summary

Philips in Columbia, SC seeks a Biomedical Equipment Technician to install, troubleshoot, and service multi-vendor biomedical equipment at customer sites. This role emphasizes preventive maintenance, repairs, and strong communication with customers.

You will perform PMs and installations, diagnose electronic, network, and mechanical issues, and work on-site with strict ownership and urgency to deliver results. This is a full-time field position based in Columbia, SC.

Qualifications

  • Associates degree in electronics or equivalent required.
  • 5+ years of experience servicing medical equipment.
  • Ability to read/interpret schematics and site drawings.
  • Knowledge of electronic circuit boards, processors, and computer hardware.
  • Understanding of electronic, mechanical, and networking theory.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance and service repair on equipment using service manuals, OJT, OEM or 3rd party training.
  • Identify and resolve customer issues, providing the customer with effective communication and involving site service personnel as needed.
  • Maintain customer satisfaction with ownership and urgency, prioritizing tasks as directed by Site Manager or customer.
  • Independently complete PMs, FCOs, installations, and diagnose, resolve electronic, network, and mechanical problems.

Biomedical Equipment Technician (Columbia, SC)

This position supports the Multi-Vendor Biomedical business with our client in Columbia, SC. This position will be responsible for customer relationship management through the effective use of technical knowledge to install, troubleshoot, and service Biomedical Equipment at customer sites.

Your role:
  • Perform preventative maintenance and service repair on equipment utilizing the service manual, OJT, OEM or 3rd Party training.
  • Identifying and resolving customer issues, providing the customer with the appropriate communication and involving appropriate site service personnel.
  • Maintaining customer satisfaction is the primary goal.
  • Therefore, the BMET must demonstrate ownership in difficult circumstances and show a sense of urgency about delivering results, ability to establish the priorities of the moment by assessing the priorities communicated by the Site Manager, the Site Team or the customer.
  • Independently complete PMs, FCOs, installations, and all related tasks and independently diagnose, resolve electronic, network, and mechanical problems, and resolve customer issues.
You're the right fit if:
  • Associates degree in electronics or equivalent combination of education and experience; BSEE/BSEET/BSME/BSMET preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience servicing medical equipment; general biomedical, patient monitoring, blood pressure monitors, defibrillators, or infusion pump experience highly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of electronic circuit boards, schematics, processors and computer hardware including applications, programming, and systems functionality.
  • Ability to understand and apply electronic, mechanical, and networking theory to install, diagnose, and repair equipment, including knowledge and use of all necessary tools and test equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics and site drawings with minimal assistance.

Onsite roles require full-time presence in the company’s facilities. Philips Transparency Details This is an hourly wage position in South Carolina is $29.00 to $45.00 and is overtime eligible. This role also includes on-call pay, training, and advancement opportunities. The actual base pay offered may vary within the posted ranges depending on multiple factors including job-related knowledge/skills, experience, business needs, geographical location, and internal equity. In addition, other compensation, such as an annual incentive plan, field service incentive bonus, sales commission or long-term incentives may be offered.
