Qualifications

Position Summary

Under the general supervision of the Clinical Engineering Program Manager, responsible for duties related to the purchase, operation, safety, maintenance, and quality assurance of patient care equipment according to the Medical Equipment Plan and organizational policies.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• Implement the Medical Equipment Management Plan to assess and control risks, ensure compliance, and manage equipment inventory, inspections, and service histories.
• Perform pre-acceptance inspections and routine maintenance on equipment.
• Serve as liaison between Clinical Engineering and medical technology users.
• Conduct pre-purchase evaluations to ensure equipment meets engineering requirements.
• Maintain technical competency and stay current with standards and regulations.
• Ensure a safe environment for patients and staff through technical expertise.
• Perform general repairs and maintain documentation.
• Participate in quality assessments and continuous improvement initiatives.

Required Qualifications for BMET

• Associates degree or equivalent in Biomedical Electronics or Electronics Engineering Technology.
• Valid Michigan driver’s license.

Preferred Qualifications for BMET

• Two years of experience maintaining and repairing medical electronic equipment.

Required Qualifications for Certified BMET

• Associates degree or equivalent in Biomedical Electronics or Electronics Engineering Technology.
• Certified Biomedical Electronics Technician (CBET).
• Valid Michigan driver’s license.

Preferred Qualifications for Certified BMET

• Two years of experience maintaining and repairing medical electronic equipment.
