Role Description This full-time, on-site Biomedical Equipment Technician/Biomedical Equipment Support Specialist role is based in Albuquerque, NM. The position is responsible for installing, inspecting, testing, and maintaining a variety of medical equipment used in patient care areas and clinical departments. Daily activities include performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting equipment issues, completing repairs, and documenting all work in accordance with VA and regulatory standards. The role involves conducting safety and performance checks, coordinating with clinical staff to minimize equipment downtime, and supporting equipment upgrades and replacements. The specialist will also assist with inventory management, vendor coordination, and compliance with electrical safety and Joint Commission requirements.

Qualifications

• Candidates should possess skills in Equipment Maintenance and Calibration to perform preventive maintenance, performance verification, and accurate adjustments on medical devices.
• Candidates should possess skills in Equipment Repair and Medical Equipment support to troubleshoot, diagnose, and restore a range of clinical and diagnostic equipment to safe operation.
• Candidates should possess knowledge of Electrical Safety related to medical equipment and healthcare environments, including adherence to applicable codes, standards, and VA policies.
• Relevant technical training or an associate degree in biomedical equipment technology, electronics, engineering technology, or a related field is preferred.
• Experience in a hospital or clinical setting, familiarity with regulatory standards (e.g., Joint Commission, NFPA, FDA), and the ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics are beneficial.
• Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, effective communication with clinical and technical staff, and the ability to work independently and within a team are important.
• Basic computer skills for documentation, inventory systems, and maintenance management software, as well as the ability to lift and move equipment safely, are required.
