Job summary

Department of Veterans Affairs in Salisbury, NC seeks a Biomedical Equipment Support Specialist (GS-11) to manage the lifecycle of medical equipment and clinical systems. You will troubleshoot, inspect, maintain, and document activities in CMMS, while addressing hazard alerts and incidents and ensuring cybersecurity readiness.

You will monitor backups, perform tests with approved equipment, and educate staff on safe operation. A background in HTM or CBET-related credentials improves prospects.

Qualifications

• Associates or higher degree in biomedical technology or biomedical engineering.
• Associates or higher degree in electronics/IT/engineering with 1 year experience.
• DOD biomedical equipment technician training or HTM certificate with internship.
• Certificates in CBET/CRES/CLES/CHTM are acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Manages lifecycle of medical equipment and clinical systems.
• Troubleshoots equipment using technical data and completes corrective actions.
• Performs incoming inspections and planned maintenance on equipment.
• Documents work in CMMS.
• Responds to hazard alerts, recalls, and incidents; records actions.
• Monitors backups, connectivity, cybersecurity, and clinical systems.
• Uses manufacturer-approved test equipment for maintenance.
• Manages projects involving equipment and systems.
• Provides staff with support, evaluates issues, and communicates status.
• Educates staff on safe operation and maintenance of equipment.
