The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking a Biomedical Equipment Support Specialist (BESS) to maintain and troubleshoot medical devices in an HTM department.

The role supports the medical equipment management program and may involve travel to community clinics. Qualifications include an associate degree or higher in biomedical tech/biomed eng or related fields, with several alternate pathways, plus CBET/CRES/CLES/CHTM certifications or equivalent experience.

Formación

• Candidate meets basic requirements: citizenship, English proficiency, and education/experience certs.
• Experience with biomedical equipment thinking like testing, maintaining and troubleshooting is needed.
• Ability to read schematics, wiring diagrams, and mathematical data is required.
• Familiarity with CMMS documentation and equipment maintenance procedures.

Responsabilidades

• Troubleshoots and performs planned maintenance on medical devices.
• Supports hospital HTM program and travel to clinics as needed.
• Maintains and operates clinical systems and equipment in line with standards.
• Documents services in CMMS and ensures compliance with KSAs.

Conocimientos

KSAs: physics, anatomy, physiology

Networking concepts: ACL, TCP/IP, VLAN

Use of standard test equipment: meters

Documentation in CMMS

Equipment operating procedures

Educación

Associates or higher in biomedical tech/biomed eng

Associates or higher in electronics/IT/engineering + 1 yr experience

DOD biomedical equipment tech training

DOD repair/maintenance IT program + 1 yr experience

Biomedical HTM certificate with internship

Biomedical HTM certificate without internship + 1 yr experience

CBET/CRES/CLES/CHTM certification
