Job summary

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking a Biomedical Equipment Support Specialist (BESS) for the Truman VA's Healthcare Technology Management team.

You will troubleshoot, maintain, and manage a range of medical devices and clinical systems to support patient care. Key duties include performing planned maintenance, documenting services in CMMS, and coordinating with clinical staff to ensure equipment readiness.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or higher in biomedical technology/biomedical engineering.

Responsibilities

• Manages lifecycle and maintenance of medical equipment and clinical systems.
• Performs troubleshooting and corrective actions on medical equipment.
• Documents all work in CMMS and tracks hazard alerts/ recalls.
• Provides customer support to staff and communicates status of issues.
• Ensures compliance with applicable standards and regulatory requirements.
• Applies basic networking concepts in MDPP context with medical devices.
• Uses test equipment per manufacturer instructions.
• Educates staff on safe operation and maintenance.
• Assists in procurement documentation and vendor services.
