Montech Inc. in Albuquerque, NM is seeking a Biomedical Equipment Support Specialist to independently perform preventive maintenance, inspections, repairs, and testing on complex diagnostic, therapeutic, imaging, and life-support systems at healthcare facilities.

You will maintain CMMS records, oversee vendor service, provide technical consultation to clinical and IT teams, participate in safety and equipment committees, and support recalls and equipment planning for renovations.

Qualifications

  • Minimum five years of biomedical equipment support experience in healthcare.
  • Expertise in troubleshooting, repair, calibration and verification of complex equipment.
  • Knowledge of Joint Commission, CMS, NFPA 99, AAMI, ANSI, FDA and OSHA requirements.
  • Experience overseeing vendor service contracts and third-party maintenance.
  • Ability to provide expert consultation and committee participation.

Responsibilities

  • Independently perform preventive maintenance, inspections, repairs, calibrations, and functional testing on complex diagnostic, therapeutic, imaging, and life-support systems.
  • Maintain accurate biomedical equipment inventories, service histories, PM records, and parts inventories in CMMS.
  • Inspect and evaluate new devices for service inclusion and PM frequency.
  • Analyze equipment failures, conduct root cause analysis, and determine corrective actions.
  • Coordinate and oversee vendor maintenance and service.
  • Provide technical consultation to clinical, engineering, and IT staff.
  • Participate on Environment of Care, Safety, Infection Control, and Equipment Committees.
  • Monitor recalls, hazard alerts, and safety notices; support planning for renovations.

Place of Performance

On-site at healthcare facilities and medical treatment location at at Albuquerque Area Office-Indian Health Service, in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Hours of Operation

Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week, (8 hours per day). Additional hours may be required for emergencies, repairs and operational needs.

Summary of Responsibilities and Measuring Success

Independently perform preventive maintenance, inspections, repairs, calibrations, functional testing, documentation in CMMS, equipment evaluations, root cause analysis, vendor oversight, technical consultation, committee participation, recall management, equipment acquisition support, and support of imaging, telemedicine and physiological monitoring systems.

Daily Tasks
  • Independently perform and manage scheduled and unscheduled preventive maintenance, inspections, repairs, calibrations, and functional testing on complex diagnostic, therapeutic, imaging, and life-support systems.
  • Maintain accurate biomedical equipment inventories, service histories, preventive maintenance records, and parts inventories within the CMMS.
  • Inspect and evaluate new biomedical equipment prior to placement into service and determine PM inclusion and frequency.
  • Analyze complex equipment failures, conduct root cause analysis, and determine corrective actions.
  • Coordinate and technically oversee vendor maintenance and service.
  • Provide technical consultation to clinical, engineering, and IT staff.
  • Participate on Environment of Care, Safety, Infection Control, and Equipment Committees.
  • Monitor and respond to medical device recalls, hazard alerts, and safety notices.
  • Support equipment planning, acquisition, construction, and renovation activities.
  • Support integrated systems including imaging, telemedicine, and physiological monitoring networks.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience providing biomedical equipment support in a healthcare environment.
  • Expertise in troubleshooting, repair, calibration, and verification of complex biomedical equipment.
  • Knowledge of Joint Commission, CMS, NFPA 99, AAMI, ANSI, FDA, and OSHA requirements.
  • Experience overseeing vendor service contracts and third-party maintenance.
  • Ability to provide expert consultation and committee participation.
  • Experience reviewing construction and renovation plans for equipment infrastructure.
  • Proficiency with CMMS systems.
