Job summary

University Health in San Antonio, Texas, seeks a Healthcare Engineering Specialist I to maintain, service, calibrate, repair and test a broad range of medical equipment throughout the facility. This role supports patient care by ensuring equipment safety and reliability and will involve hands‑on technical work across clinical and support environments.

The ideal candidate has an Associate degree in Biomedical Engineering Technology or a related field, with two years of related experience.

Qualifications

Associate degree in Biomedical Engineering Technology or a related field is required.
Bachelor's degree in a related field is preferred.
Two years of related experience in a full-service biomedical section, department or company is required.
Four years of related experience is preferred.
ICC Certification for Radiology Equipment (CRES) is preferred.

Responsibilities

Maintain, service, calibrate, adjust, repair and test general and specialized medical equipment.
Perform and document complex repairs and calibration services on a broad range of patient care and support equipment.
Apply knowledge of medical equipment management standards and regulations, including The Joint Commission and other regulatory agencies.
Work closely with clinical and operational teams, including management, nurses, physicians, ancillary staff and outside vendors.
Ensure work is completed in accordance with University Health, departmental and section policies and procedures.
